Self-respect is probably the most important value for a person.

In the video, some of the students talked about the idea that, "It's one thing to respect a person, but another to respect that person's beliefs." What did they mean? Can you think of someone you know who has a different set of beliefs than you? How do you respond to different beliefs?

In three seperate dictionaries, respect is defined as a regard for or appreciation of the worth or value of someone or something.

Respect is the kind behavior and activity, which one expresses towards another person or a group of people with the intention to demonstrate his honor towards them. Every well-educated and well-bred person knows that respect is a very important thing in human society. When one respects another person, he has to demonstrate it in a special way. Respecting a person, you will never be rude to her and listen to her advice carelessly, but capture every word and treat it seriously.

Choose self-respect a will topic meaning show someone.

Respect is the act of showing someone that you value his or her feelings and thoughts.

The story of Ruth tells of a women who not only respects all the above, the story of Ruth shows us how having Faint in God, can open us up to new levels of respect of ourselves and others around us.

My sense of respect comes from the way my parents have raised me. My mom is a high school teacher, and deals with students who always think they are right on a daily basis. She does not hold anything against them, and always shows her students the same respect that she gives everyone else. My dad works for Honeywell, and installs fire alarm and a/c systems in to buildings computer networks. His job is hard, not because of the work, but because of the people he deals with. The people in the buildings constantly complain that the building is to warm or to cold. Even when my dad is right next to them they complain about the conditions, that the workers never solve the problems. However my dad always maintains his cool, and does not talk bad to them or about them. Seeing the way my parents treat others has greatly impacted the way I treat other people.

If you demonstrate respect toward others, then others will respect you and listen to your opinions.

In all aspects, respect is a feeling of well-being and contentment.

I believe children should always respect their parents. Showing parental respect in our everyday lives provides us with the ability to treat every person we meet with kindness and adoration. Billy Graham once said “A child who is allowed to be disrespectful to his parents will not have true respect for anyone.” Children today imagine their parents have everything the world has to offer, and that they are there to serve to their every whim. Every child needs to realize that sometimes parents have more responsibilities and hardships that maybe they don’t see. They try their hardest to support their families and don’t need a child that causes extra stress to their everyday lives.

A large number of my friends have explained how they “love their parents so much” yet they cause them a considerable amount of grief with their unacceptable behavior. Many can’t look past their own “problems” to give their parents the respect they deserve. On occasion some of my friends have exploded with such rude behavior without paying any mind to the guests that stand before them. Some are asked to do the simplest of chores and they bawl and whine like toddlers! The very least they could do was lend a helping hand.

Respect. A quality that most people involved in sports show. However, the people of today’s society have become so self-centered, that we forget to show respect to people around us. People around town and in every day activities do not show even the simplest gestures. Today most people will not hold doors open or help people with heavy bags. We only care about ourselves, and what will benefit us. I believe that every one deserves the same respect that is exhibited by athletes.

Journal Essay- Respect. - Mr. Diamond's English Class

On the sport field, there are certain rules that athletes follow to stay safe and respect the other players. In the real world there are no such rules. People go about their daily business, and have little regard for those around them. I have never seen more disrespect than when driving. People are always in such a rush to get to their destination. On Thanksgiving a few years ago, my family and I were driving to Chicago on the Interstate. Three motorcycles weave in and out of traffic, speeding between the cars, and cutting off other drivers. About a mile down the road, two of the bikers had stopped and were on the shoulder. The third biker had lost control and crashed. The other two bikers had stopped to help him, and when the ambulance pulled away, they could not get their bikes started. For being in such a hurry, they prolonged their day.

Respect is the care and understanding of one human being for another

Walking around towns, I do not see a lot of respect shown by other people. When I am out and about, I also do not see people say thank you or your welcome when people do help them. To me, this is just bad ethics. When anyone shows anyone respect, the person does notice. The elderly people especially notice when a young teenager helps them or holds open a door. I was walking through Wal-Mart, and an older woman was checking out. She had a big case of water and it was sort of heavy. She struggled to get it in the cart, but she managed. I knew she wouldn’t be able to get it into her car, so I checked out real quick and followed her out to her car. When she started to lift the water case, I offered to giver her a hand unloading her groceries. She was startled at first, but let me help her, and she was extremely grateful.
